A Mountain Bike Route that starts from the heart of Beaujolais Countryside to the Rhone Valley, riding through the Monts du Lyonnais and the Pays des Pierres Dorées.

The Grande Traversée du Rhône route passes through vineyards and orchards, forests and mountains along its many trails. Along the ascents, there are panoramas over green landscapes, followed by descents that are sometimes technical, sometimes rolling. Small charming villages will also punctuate your trip, with many places to explore and stop to rest and refuel.

Ascent: 6,380 meters

Route Rating - Difficult.


The GTR Mountain Bike route is composed of paths and roads most suited to Mountain Bikes. The route planners advise not to attempt the route on Gravel Bikes. With some technical passages identified in the stages. The difficulty is mainly in the significant elevation of the route. With lots off road single track.

Equipment

Recommended Mountain Bike.

Gear Light and optimized "bikepacking" type equipment is recommended.

Direct from: Lyon (40 min), Valence (2h), Mâcon (15 min)

How to return from Finish Point?

Saint-Clair-les-Roches station (1km from the finish line): Valence - Mâcon line

Direct to: Lyon (30 min), Valence (40 min), Mâcon (1h30)
