New voie vert between Troy and Sens

It was announced that SNCF have signed a partnership with the towns of Troy and Sens to convert the old railway line between the two into to a new 51 km voie vert. The project will be expensive costing between 50 and 200,000 euro for each kilometre depending if built next to or on top of the existing tracks.

It has been a long time since this railway line between Sens and Troyes has seen any passengers, the last trip dates from 1938, but it was still used to transport grain until 2015, between Molinons and Troyes.

At this time there is no completion date but when finished this new voie vert will add an excellent connection between the canals in the north and east and the canals of V51 : Voie verte du Canal du Nivernais and V51 : Tour de Bourgogne / Canal de Bourgogne.
